Morse code practice, powered by real English words.
morsed is a speed-focused Morse code trainer that uses real words — not random characters — so you build muscle memory for the patterns that actually matter. Type dit (.) and dah (-) to spell words against a ticking clock, then review your CPM, accuracy, and streak in the results.
Features
Typing with real words. Words are drawn from a curated bank of common English words across lengths. Each session generates a fresh sentence-like sequence that mixes short, medium, and long words for natural variety.
Timer-based sessions. Choose 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 3 minutes. Your stats tick in real time, and the session ends when the clock hits zero.
Dit & dah input. Press . for dit and Space or - for dah. On touch devices, the on-screen dit/dah buttons appear. You can also click/tap the input area — short press for dit, long press or right-click for dah.
Audio feedback. Each dit and dah plays its corresponding tone. Correct inputs advance the character with a subtle pop animation. Wrong inputs trigger a low buzz, flash the error state, and reset the buffer after a brief delay.
Real-time stats. The top bar shows countdown timer, characters per minute, accuracy percentage, and current streak — all updating live during the session.
Results screen. At the end of every session, you see:
- Characters per minute
- Overall accuracy
- Total time
- Characters typed and words completed
- Best streak
- A CPM chart plotting your speed over time
- The full session sentence with per-word color coding (correct words in amber, errors in red)
Character history bar. The bottom strip shows your most recently typed characters alongside their Morse code patterns, making it easy to review what you just entered.
Mute toggle. Turn audio on or off at any time.
Dark, minimal design. Inspired by Monkeytype, the interface uses mono-spaced typography (Roboto Mono), a dark canvas, restrained amber accents, and generous negative space around the central typing area.
